Its been roughly two weeks since my first visit to the big apple. It was also my first flying experience.Needless to say it was a wonderful flight. I spent the weekend with my roommate who is originally from Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina.I went down the day before my flight to stay with her because our flight was a 7:30 a.m flight. Airport security even checked my hair because I wore hair extensions…haha:) Once we landed in NYC the shooting at the empire state building was also going on at the same time. My phone immediately blew up with text and phone calls from people to check up on me…my luck, there would be a shooting right when I land haha:) we changed into some casual clothes and walked all through New York, getting adjusted to the city. Allowing everything to soak in. Of course, I am in such amazement of the city.We found the school me and my roommate were attending, which was on 61st Street. On the Upper Westside of Manhattan. We walked back and got ready for AMDA’s Dinner with the Pros. This consisted of a dinner with the newly accepted student and what we didn’t know at the time, a workshop class. Thank the lord we brought dance clothes along with us. This dinner allowed us to get a feel of the classes at AMDA, meet the new students and of course meet with the nutritionist that we have, and meeting with financial aid if needed. After the dinner, we hopped on the subway. Which was something we were still trying to get used to as well. I even had trouble with my metrocard literally saying “too slow”…I guess that’s what I get for living in the south. haha:) The next day, we had an appointment at the campus to tour and meet new people that are affiliated with AMDA. After the appointment we headed over to Starbucks, one of thousands they have there. We even enjoyed some high priced Applebees haha. That evening we met up with one of my roommates friends who was a student at Marymount Manhattan. We tried to eat at Olive Garden, but even at 9:00..we had over an hour wait. We explored more of the city, times square night life is AMAZING! The next morning, we had a late flight so we decided to do some shopping. We visited Capezio, M&M store, Forever 21 ( pure perfection), and a few others. Another visit to Starbucks to meet with some more friends that live in the city. They were super nice and willing to help us out once we got there. Around lunchtime, we ate at Juniors. Which is pretty much an upscale burger joint.. delicious. Then we headed over to our cab driver to head back to the NY airport to board the plane. Once we landed in Columbia, South Carolina, I headed back to my roommates home to stay because it was well past midnight. We went to breakfast the next morning before we parted ways until time to move in together.
